Dad, the Sci-Fi Guy

So I learned a few weeks ago that my dad, retired English teacher, butterfly collector, hiker, and semi-naturalist, has started writing a science fiction novel. Awesome! I don't know exactly why this tickles me so much but it does. It's certainly my favorite genre of writing (okay, and to be fair, probably movies as well) but I don't think that's all of it. I think maybe what's most exciting is that he's doing something ambitious and I think he loves it. I've been promised a reading of the manuscript thus far over the holiday weekend. Can't wait!
